Safe Crossing Tide Times for Holy Island
The safe crossing times change each tide, every day. If you know what time high water is, you have from 3.5hrs after high water until 2hrs before the next one to come and go to Holy Island, the remaining hours are when the tide covers the causeway and you cannot cross.
Northumberland County Council website has good tide times that will let you plan well in advance for the tide, most websites will only give up to a maximum of the next 7-30 days.
Click here to go to the Northumberland County Council website.
Click here to go to the current safe crossing times page on their site (might change without notice, if it does use the link above and search for safe crossing times to Holy Island).
Use the images below together with directions to find your way to Holy Island and Margie’s Cottage.
Travelling North or South on the A1:
Turn east at Beal signposted Holy Island and follow the road onto the causeway, allowing for safe crossing times which we will provide for your dates upon booking confirmation.
When you reach the main part of the island, turn right at the car park (straight ahead), then turn right as you reach the Lindisfarne Hotel (looks straight ahead again), then turn left at the t-junction and drive down Marygate.
Take your first right onto Fenkle Street, then your first left into St. Cuthbert’s Square.
Margie’s Cottage is the second door on the left.
